The Cloud is a mountain that overlooks Congleton where it is locally recognised as one of the town‘s main landmark. At 343 m (1,125 ft) high it provides extensive views across the Cheshire Plain and is a popular destination with hill walkers. There are several walking routes available to reach its summit including one recommended by the AA that is a 7 mile walk from Timbersbrook car park called Viewing The Cloud From Both Sides. The Cloud is located on the border of Staffordshire and Cheshire close to the boundary of the Peak District National Park. The area is owned by the National Trust. Access across the area is free of charge but visitors should keep to the designated footpaths.
