Romanian Athenaeum (Bucharest, Romania)

Das Rumänische Athenäum wurde von 1885 bis 1888 erbaut. Es beherbergt heute die “Staatsphilharmonie George Enescu” (“Orchestra Simfonica a Filarmonicii George Enescu”). George Enescur (1881-1955) war ein rumänischer Komponist, Geigenspieler und Dirigent. Auf dem Tambour der Kuppel (Mauer zwischen Pendentif und Kuppel) ist eine Freskomalerei von Costin Petrescu. Die Malereien zeigen Szenen aus der rumänischen Geschichte. Im Saal haben 600 und in den Logen noch einmal 52 Menschen Platz. Das Athenäum befindet sich in einer Seitenstraße der “Calea Victoriei”.
