Henri Coanda International Airport (Otopeni, Romania)

Otopeni is Romania’s main International airport. It has a departures and an arrivals terminal each with a capacity of 1200 persons at peak hours. The main airline it serves is TAROM (Romania’s national airline) but most of the major airlines from all over the world are also present. Built in 1940 on the site of a military base and originally called Otopeni airport, it was was renamed to memoralize Henry Coanda, the Romanian who invented the first jet aircraft who died in 1972. The airport was renovated in 1991 and is open all year long, all day long.
