    Sinquerim Beach is a 13 km uninterrupted beach that is located 13 km from Panjim. The beach offers fine sand and is one of the oldest established beaches in the area. It is popular for long walks along the coastline and offers a large variety of water sports, including windsurfing, water-skiing, fishing, scuba diving and para-sailing. Sinquerim Beach is also home to Fort Aguada and its lighthouse which were built in 1612 AD by the Portuguese to defend Goa against enemy attacks from the sea. The fort was built at the shore of the Mandovi river and is home to a spring which was used to provide water supply for passing ships. The beach can be reached by public transport and is served by bars and restaurants.
