This narrow gauge railway runs from the Cumbrian coast at Ravenglass along the Eskdale Valley to Dalegarth station. Steam engines take forty minutes to pull the passenger carriages over the seven mile line through mountainous scenery and past the peak of Scafell. Both closed and open topped carriages are provided and the line is a favourite route for hikers and cyclists to get to the heart of the Lake District. There is a display of old photographs and memorabiolia at Ravenglass Station which illustrates the railway’s history.
