Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens (Naples, USA)

Naples Zoo started life as a tropical garden planted by botanist Henry Nehrling in 1919. Although the area grew wild after his death, many of the specimens he originally plated remain at the heart of the Zoo today. In 1969 the site was bought by Larry Tetzlaff who introduced rare animals into the park which was renamed Jungle Larry’s Caribbean Gardens. It is now a non-profit charitable organisation involved in international conservation work. The zoo is in the heart of the City of Naples and houses lions, tigers, panthers and other endangered felines, many of which are introduced to visitors at the staged presentations. A cruise on a catamaran does a guided tour around the zoo’s islands which are populated with apes, monkeys and lemurs. There is dense foliage, trees and exotic blooms which provide a home for many varieties of butterflies. There is a gift shop at the entrance and refreshment stands. A large car park is provided and the Zoo is wheelchair accessible. Tickets: Adults: $18.50 Child (under 12): $9.95 Hours: Daily: 09:30am - 5:30pm Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day Show schedules are announced on the day.
