Museum of the History of Science (Oxford, United Kingdom)

The Museum of the History of Science houses a collection of scientific instruments and is based in the world’s oldest purpose-built museum building. It’s location on Broad Street places it at the heart of Oxford Academia, sandwiched between the Sheldonian Theatre and Exeter College and within a stone’s throw of the Radcliffe Camera and half a dozen other colleges. The collection is particularly strong in astrolabes, quadrants, sundials and mathematical gizmos. It also includes early equipment used by chemists and physicists, as well as microscopes and telescopes. Entrance to the museum is free and the opening hours are 12pm-5pm Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 5 pm on Saturdays and 2pm to 5 pm on Sundays. It is closed during Easter and every Monday.
