About Royal Hotel
The Royal Hotel at Penrith is a ten room, family-run hotel located on a popular Lakeland walk in Dockray and accessible to the A66 motorway. The hotel is also close to the Helvellyn and High Street mountain ranges.
Each room contains a video/DVD player, TV, radio and coffee and tea-making facilities. Cots can be provided upon request.
Private parking is available on-site as well as a porter. The hotel is also pet-friendly.
The hotel has a large restaurant and bar area that serves a large selection of wine, locally brewed ales and malt whiskies. The hotel serves local Cumbrian specialties and local ingredients.
The Aira Force waterfall, as well as Eastern and Ullswater Lakes are less than ten minutes’ drive away, offering opportunities for sailing, rowing, and fishing. Other popular local activities include horse-riding, archery and cross-country biking.

Wi-Fi and cell phone service is intermittent.
Many guests reported not only that the on-site Wi-Fi was intermittent, but cell phone coverage was as well. Several guests commented that the only way they found the hotel was by using their Satnavs.

Guests complained that room walls were paper thin and that they could hear the conversations of people staying in adjacent rooms. Many also found the hotel’s hot water system very noisy.
