You are assured a warm welcome at relaxed informal Oaklands House on the Isle of Wight. The 10 air Conditioned bedrooms are all decorated in neutral tones and refurbished with individually designed en-suites. Free Wi-fi can be accessed throughout the building Hidden from the road by a high fence and trees, the property is situated at the foot of the scenic Brading Downs, ideally located for both walking and cycling holidays. The heated swimming pool (open June to September) is available most afternoons until dusk. There is also a petanque terrain & boules available for guest use. Oaklands offers a continental buffet style breakfast (which includes yoghurts, cereals, cheeses, juices, bread, toast, boiled eggs, croissants, cured meats, filter coffee, teas & infusions etc). The friendly "local", The Yarbridge Inn is just across the road and serves good beer, snacks and full meals. If you enjoy fishing, the River Yar is just a few metres further away. From here you can take the public footpath to Yaverland and the nearest beach. For those with bicycles, we are located close to Island cycle routes and 50m to a "quiet road" Environmental issues are important to the hosts, so they have implemented many eco-friendly ideas, including automatic lighting in many of the bathrooms and recycling whenever possible. The hosts are proud to have achieved coveted Gold award status from Green Island Tourism. The property has also been awarded 5 stars by IW Council for food hygiene standards. During your stay, you may see red squirrels coming to our garden to feed - Some of them are timid, so as not to frighten them the property does not allow pets. A minimum of 2 nights' stay is required for all rooms. To ensure a peaceful and relaxed stay we do not accept stag or hen parties or guests under 18 years of age.
