Brixworth Country Park is a joint venture between Northamptonshire County Council and Anglian Water who own the reservoir known as Pitsford Water which is the centrepiece of the park. The reservoir is used by fishermen and sailors who are members of the local fishing or sailing clubs respectively. It is a popular venue for walkers, runners and cyclists as has children’s play facilities as well as cycle hire, a restaurant, a shop and an activity centre. No swimming is allowed as this lake is one of the main sources of drinking water in the area. The park is open year round and has two car parks - one at the main entrance to the park where car parking is available on a ‘Pay and Display’ basis for £2 per day and the other close to the causeway which crosses the middle of the reservoir where the parking is free. This second car park is very popular with people who like to feed the ducks, geese and swans who make the reservoir their home and is also a good place to get ice-creams in the warmer weather. The circular route around the part of the reservoir which is open to the public is approximately 7 miles long and has picnic spots along the way. All dogs must be kept on leads. Motorised buggies and wheelchairs are available for those with limited mobility.
