About The Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection
The Grace Vanderbilt hotel is a five-star establishment set in a restored historical mansion with a garden terrace among other features.
The guest rooms and various nautical-themed suites (e.g. Captain’s Suite, Cove Suite, etc.) each have free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen television. They are also equipped with a stocked minibar, coffee machines and either a kitchenette or full kitchen.
Facilities at the Grace Vanderbilt include a spa, a gym, sauna and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There is also a business centre and a concierge desk to arrange other activities. Valet parking is available at a surcharge.
The award-winning Muse Restaurant offers gourmet dinners using local ingredients, while the Conservatory is open for breakfast and lunch with a more casual atmosphere. Drinks can be enjoyed at the bar or the roof deck in the summer.
Newport Art Museum and the International Tennis Hall of Fame are some places of interest in the area.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Located close to town and attractions
The quality and size of rooms and outdoor spaces at the Vanderbilt Grace does not mean a compromise on general location in this case. Wharfs and marinas, historical sites and shopping are all just a short walking distance away.
positive:
Stunning outdoor spaces
If you happen to be visiting Newport in the warmer months, the rooftop terrace is one of the best spots in the area to enjoy views of the sunset over the harbour while sipping on a drink on one of the many cocktail theme evenings. Likewise, the garden terrace is where guests can enjoy a peaceful lunch or some tea in an airy outdoor setting.
positive:
Generously appointed suites
The suites, although varying in size and features are generally quite large with plenty of closet space and a kitchen on top of the other room amenities. They are a great choice for groups of friends or family, as well as being flexible enough for longer stays.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Vehicle parking is an extra charge
The parking available is an advantage for this area, however only the valet service can be used and this comes at a relatively high surcharge.
negative:
Noisy air conditioning units
A concern of a number of past guests, the climate control systems in the guest rooms tend to get quite loud when operating. Perhaps an option is to have them on just before but not during sleep at night.
negative:
Limited space at the pools
As both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools are quite small and not surrounded by too much space, it is possible to miss out on a spot on the deckchairs. If this is the case at one pool, you could always check the other one or go enjoy the spa or fitness facilities instead.
