    Can't fault the location.

    The location is really convenient for the metro and for walking, quite easily, to a number of central Milan attractions ... including Duomo and the castle.

    You can find lots and lots of breakfast cafes to suit all tastes and budgets. Give The Square's offerings a try though. There are lots of delicious choices designed to set you up for a day spent exploring the city. Breakfast here is an experience not to be missed and the inclusion of Prosecco in the menu ... provides an extra fizz to the start of any day!

    Members of staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff keeps the hotel in good order throughout … including guest bedrooms.

    Not much nourishment.

    After breakfast and before the restaurant opens again, there is very little available in the way of refreshments and snacks. It's a bit of a desert, food wise.

    Problems in the room.

    The sound of flowing water in the shower is frighteningly deafening. The toilet has ‘come away from its moorings' and wobbles dangerously. Water drains away in some areas, but not in others … *There will be plumbing issues ahead! Things like this are expected in an ancient hotel, but not in one that's sparklingly new.

    Fundamental design and operational issues.

    There are no cupboards or proper storage areas in the room so, this area, which is already quite basic, becomes somewhat uncomfortable. There are things missing, like cups. They are supplied on request … but why aren't they there in the first place?
