With the change of ownership, the rooms in the hotel are newly renovated and feature modern décor. Though it is a larger hotel and budget-friendly, there is a boutique aspect that makes it feel welcoming and personal.

If you want a central location to the attractions, this spot is good. There is also a trolley station within walking distance, which offers even more mobility to you if you are staying without a car. The hotel is located near major freeways, offering convenient access to anything in the region.

For the price and type of motel it is, there are a good number of amenities to enjoy during a stay. A microwave and refrigerator is a good addition and helps cut down food costs when staying in the area – there is also free Wi-Fi and breakfast, which are two other ways to save money.

The location of the hotel is not in a very nice part of town – the area is slightly rundown and still a bit out of the way if you want to stay there to explore downtown San Diego. It’s also right off the freeway, so there are other low budget motels nearby, which brings down the area.

The free Internet is pretty slow and spotty, so expect a lot of disconnections if you use it. For a stronger signal, you might need to go closer to the lobby, which is an inconvenience if you want to use the connection in your room.

If you are allergic to smoke or sensitive, many of the rooms (even non-smoking) do feature a smoky and musty smell. If you need a different room, be sure to ask staff if you can be accommodated.
