About Riad Azcona
Despite Riad Douceur Mandarine being located in the heart of Marrakech's colourful medina and near the Bahia Palace, it is a veritable oasis of calm.
The five comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms decorated with traditional Moroccan tiles.
To cool down after a sweltering day in the medina, guests can take a dip in the small plunge pool on the patio or the Jacuzzi on the sun-terrace. The terrace itself is an ideal place to relax and take in the exceptional views of the iconic Koutoubia mosque and the Atlas mountains. The hotel also offers a Hammam, massages and reflexology.
Riad Douceur Mandarine offers breakfast on the patio or the terrace. Typical Moroccan lunches and dinners, using fresh local ingredients, can also be ordered.
Jamaa El Fna and the entrance to the souks is just a ten minute walk away. The hotel can organise guided visits and excursions.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Calm and comfortable riad
Guests love retreating back to this riad after the frenzy of a day in the medina. In a quiet quarter, only ten minutes from the delirium of the Jamaa El Fna, you feel at home and enveloped by a feeling of calm upon entering.
positive:
Friendly staff
The hosts and the staff make guests feel like friends first and foremost. Friendly and helpful, yet discrete, they will give you the advice you need, without “being in your face”.
positive:
Beautiful terrace
The terrace is the piece de resistance of the hotel according to many guests. You can take a dip in the Jacuzzi, take advantage of some afternoon sunbathing, a flavoursome meal or just a quiet drink to admire the stunning views over the Koutoubia, Bahia Palace or Atlas mountains.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Difficult to find
Not very well indicated - in fact not indicated at all, many guests have difficulty finding the riad. Taxis only go so far and then you have to rely on your own resourcefulness to locate it - or pay a willing local to show you the way. Guests advise to warn the riad in advance when you are arriving, as you will have no access plan or map.
negative:
Jacuzzi too refreshing
Out of the scorching summer months, the Jacuzzi loses its appeal. It is not heated and many guests find it simply too fresh!
negative:
Minuscule pool
Guests are often speechless when they feast their eyes on the pool. Most were expecting it to be on the small side - but not quite so tiny! Some even feel that the photographs and descriptions online are very misleading. More like a bathtub than a pool, and pretty much indoors, it looks more like a design feature, suitable for goldfish, rather than a swimming pool.
