Positive Reviews
positive:
Location is about perfect.
There are lots of hotels and guest houses on Weymouth's Esplanade; however, relatively few of them are this close to the 'town end'. Thus, staying here means you can walk to the harbour, Sea Life Tower, Channel Islands Ferry Terminal, Pavilion, town centre, train station AND the beach in no time at all. Very handy indeed.
positive:
Views are just lovely.
Looking out from the rather pleasant lounge bar or – if you're lucky – your bedroom is a real treat in this hotel: the views of the beach, bay and beyond are so picturesque they could easily be on a postcard.
positive:
Staff are very genial and accommodating.
Warm, welcoming and attentive to a fault; the staff here are undoubtedly one of the hotel's biggest assets. Great ambassadors.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Weekends are often noisy.
Because of its central location, the Rex is unable to escape the inevitable noise created by the party-loving people who descend on Weymouth town centre each and every weekend. Bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.
negative:
Some guest rooms slope.
A number of guests have noted that some of the accommodations seem to have a pronounced slope. Stay in one of these rooms and it's highly likely that, when you get into bed, your head will actually be lower than your feet! Very odd.
negative:
Parking isn't straightforward.
Free on-street parking is pretty scarce in this part of Weymouth so you'll need to have a strategy in mind if you choose to drive here without booking the hotel's parking facility in advance. Even if you do opt for the pre-booking option, you should bear in mind that this doesn't get you a place directly outside the hotel but rather a bay in a car park a few minutes' walk away.
