Set in a commanding position overlooking the Ourika Valley, Kasbah & Spa Agounsane is perfect for guests looking for a tranquil environment in which to recharge and rejuvenate.
The rooms are elegantly furnished and decorated, and feature en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars, TV’s, in-rooms safes, hairdryers, work desks and telephones.
There is a gorgeous pool terrace, with the usual amenities, and fantastic views over the valley, but it is the extensive spa which is the central feature at Agounsane. It offers Turkish baths, sauna and a very extensive array of beauty and therapeutic treatments. Wi-Fi is free of charge and available throughout the property.
The elegant on-site restaurant serves Moroccan and international favourites. In fine weather guests typically dine on the terrace.
The property is in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Marakesh is approximately 27 miles away.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Amazing views of the surroundings
The lovely views from the property were by far what guests most appreciated about Agounsane. They had come to the resort to get away from it all, otherwise they would have stayed in Marrakech, and the peaceful views over the valley and hills were exactly what they were looking for.
positive:
Excellent and evocative decor
In travelling to Morocco, and especially the area around Marrakech, guests had built up certain “exotic” expectations regarding what they would find there. On arrival, it seems that they were satisfied that the spirit and atmosphere they had in their minds was reflected in the evocative and traditional décor used throughout the hotel.
positive:
Very friendly and helpful staff
While their English language skills were not considered all that good, guests really thought that the staff went the extra mile to make sure that they had everything they needed to have a great holiday.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Food not very good
It was hard to find a good word spoken about the food served at the restaurant. Even those who found the taste acceptable went on to say they considered it overpriced. But it seems most did not really like the taste, and some suggested having access to a car so you could dine at better places nearby.
negative:
Wi-Fi a bit spotty
Perhaps not surprisingly, given the remote location, there were a few complaints that the Wi-Fi was a little unreliable. Guests did seem a bit more understanding that they would have been otherwise.
negative:
Relatively poor value
On the whole it does not seem that guests were happy with the value they received. They said that the room-rates are high for this area, and felt that the hotel did not pay enough attention to the details to justify them, and its star rating.
