Hotel Islazul Colina (Havana, Cuba)

The immediate neighbourhood was probably what guests most appreciated about Islazul Colina. It was described as interesting, with lots of cafes, restaurants and general streetlife.

Guests certainly had no shortage of complaints about the hotel, but most seemed to be related to the poor state of repair and lack of amenities, both perhaps as a result of the embargo. The staff on the other hand generally received compliments from the guests who said they tried their best to help out given very limited resources.

A couple of guests expressed their surprise that the TV's in their room had quite a few English language stations. While not exactly a full cable package, there were a decent number of channels to watch when guests just wanted to relax in front of the TV.

This was perhaps what guests most complained about. The rooms were said to be simply hopelessly basic, dated and in an extremely poor state of repair. There was a long list of things in the rooms that guests mentioned simply didn't work. It was as if they were in a hotel that hadn't seen any updates or repairs for many decades.

Guests explain that there is a local bar on the ground floor which stays open till late, and often has raucous impromptu parties going on. Together with noise from the old cars tearing down the street, it made for an unsettled night for many guests.

A very large number of guests reported that their rooms simply weren't clean when the checked in. It seems that the bathrooms were a particular concern for many, with reports of mould and dirt in general.
