Positive Reviews
positive:
Awesome location in central New York City.
Want to stay in the heart of the Big Apple? Then look no further than the Inn at Irving Place, perfectly situated just a block from Union Square and half a mile from Madison Square Park. The nearest subway station is just a four minute walk away.
positive:
Spacious rooms with quirky period furniture.
This is a true boutique hotel in every sense of the word. Not many other hotels would offer as much room space for the same price, and even fewer would have a period interior design and antique furniture like a room from a century ago.
positive:
Staff are friendly, approachable and chatty.
Everybody working here, from the receptionists to the cleaners, are really helpful and professional. You can't fault the customer service, you'll feel like a truly valued customer throughout your stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not the cleanest hotel out there by a long shot.
You're likely to notice a few dirty corners and dusty spots around this hotel, it simply isn't kept clean enough. If you find your room dissatisfying make sure to take it up with management.
negative:
Outside noise can be loud, especially on weekends.
There are a number of late night drinking establishments in the immediate area so be aware that it can be noisy outside late into the night. You would be advised to pack some earplugs if you are a light sleeper, just in case.
negative:
This place really needs some proper renovation.
Despite its unique boutique feel, Inn at Irving Place isn't keeping itself in good enough order. Some routine maintenance is being missed and a spot of careful renovation would stop this place from looking shabby.
