positive:
World-Class Workforce
Reviewers routinely find the personnel here a breath of fresh air. Treating visitors with the utmost respect and warmth at all times, staff exude traditional Texan charm and hospitality, offering pre-arrival information, accommodating all manner of room requests and giving great recommendations for local attractions and eateries.
positive:
Huge Rooms
Delighted guests are invariably shocked at the sheer size of their accommodations. Well-appointed guestrooms are ‘Texas-Size’, with ample living, sleeping, and storage space. Bathrooms are equally huge, with more than enough room for two to comfortably get ready. Travelling families and groups are hugely appreciative of the space.
positive:
Walking Distance to Everything
While guests bemoan the lack of an on-site restaurant, the array of eateries within effortless walking distance does much to assuage annoyance. As well as dining options, tourists have the opportunity to stroll to so many downtown attractions, including the Sixth Floor Museum and JFK Memorial.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Bland Breakfast
While the new restaurant area is under construction, breakfast is served in the lobby—not the most inspiring place to start the day! At busy times especially, service can be shambolic, while the quality of the foodstuffs is sometimes more akin to a cafeteria than a first-rate hotel.
negative:
Annoying Elevators
One small but recurrent compliant comes from guests who find the elevators insufferably slow. Although the hotel boasts four elevators, oftentimes one or more are not working, meaning longer queues for those that are. Travellers staying on higher floors can find the wait for elevators to arrive infuriating.
negative:
Paper-Thin Walls
While most guests enjoy a great night’s sleep, some struggle because of disturbances from noise. Rooms are not entirely soundproofed, so TVs and voices in adjacent rooms are occasionally audible, while the sound of construction and traffic can conspire to ruin the night for some light sleepers.
