Guests to the hotel consistently mentioned the exceptional service provided by staff. The hotel is also only a 15 minute drive into the center of Chicago and many guest found the location very convenient.

The hotel provides free parking and number of guest reviewers welcomed this amenity. A number of previous guests also mentioned how well lit the parking area was, making them feel safe when they had to collect their cars in the late evening.

A number of guest reviewers mentioned the food at Whitney's Cafe as being of excellent quality and presentation. Be sure to take in their breakfast which rates a special mention across a number of reviews.

A number of guest reviewers were not happy about the general smell of smoke throughout the hotel. The hotel does offer smoking rooms but a number of non-smoking guests felt that the rest of the hotel had absorbed the decades of smoke and that this smell permeated into all soft furnishings.

A number of guest reviewers did not have ideal water pressure or consistent hot water in their showers and made comment that this negatively impacted on their stay. Whilst some reviewers indicated that staff dealt with their complaints quickly a number of travelers where only on overnight stays and therefore had to make do with cold showers.

Some guests did not have a smooth check-in at the Hilton Oak Lawn, this was largely due to perceived under-staffing of the front desk. Additionally, housekeeping seemed to have some problems in keeping up with demand when turning over rooms ready for new guests.
