There are several spots to discover in and around the city of Bochum: the unique mining museum called Bergbaumuseum, the planetarium and zoo in Bochum, and the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex Zeche Zollverein in the city of Essen which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage. The Industrial Heritage Trail Route der Industriekultur invites tourists to 46 stations which are linked to the industrial heritage of the Ruhr area. Musical lovers will appreciate the rock musical "Starlight Express" which is staged in Bochum since 1988.
