A number of previous guests to the hotel made mention of the polite, friendly and professional staff who work there. Special mention was made of the front desk staff that made check-in a breeze.

Cleanliness is a key feature of any successful hotel; the reviews on the Doubletree by Hilton Houston Downtown consistently noted the high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and in the rooms.

Being able to walk into the city center, as well as being so close to the top reasons to visit Houston, was noted by previous guests as being the best feature of the hotel. Public transport close to the hotel also made navigating Houston easy.

Some guests remarked that it took a while for their cars to be delivered by the valet. A concession some reviewers made was that their request was at a peak time and it was recognized that the valet staff were understaffed for the number of requests that they were required to handle.

Some guests to the hotel expressed their frustration at the speed of the Wi-Fi, noting that it was too slow and did not seem to be handling the amount of user traffic.

Notwithstanding that a number of previous guests to the hotel raved about the free cookie that was provided on their arrival, some guest reviewers were disappointed by the lack of amenities at the hotel but particularly within the standard rooms. Guests particularly missed in-room safes, microwaves, refrigerators and minibars. There is also no pool at the hotel.
