Positive Reviews
positive:
The views are gorgeous.
Many of the guest rooms at Pier House overlook St. Austell Bay and Charlestown Harbour which is unspoiled by commercial ventures and as beautiful as it has been for centuries. Not all rooms have these views but the rooms that do are the same price as those that don’t, so be sure to request a room with a view of the water when you book and again when checking in.
positive:
Small hotel means big service.
This boutique hotel delivers a personal kind of service you won’t find in chain hotels. The owner is happy to accommodate most any request and point you in the direction of popular local sights and places to dine.
positive:
The food is marvelous.
Both establishments here serve fresh seafood that is cooked to perfection and done so many ways that you certainly won’t lack for choices. Add to that, the beautiful harbor views, and you have a dining experience you won’t soon forget.
Negative Reviews
negative:
There is no on-site parking.
Although you can park for free if you are a guest of Pier House, the car park is a five-minute walk from the hotel which could prove problematic for those with low mobility or a lot of luggage in tow.
negative:
Some of the rooms are small.
Some of the rooms here are smaller than others. So if you are travelling with more than one person, have a lot of luggage in tow or need extra room to manoeuvre, be sure to ask for a room at the front of the hotel, where the rooms are more spacious.
negative:
Things can get noisy.
If you are looking for a quiet stay, be sure not to book a room that’s directly over the pub. The music and crowd noise will infiltrate your room until the wee hours, making it next to impossible to sleep.
