Camping Pod Heaven, located in the village of Abriachan some 12 miles from Inverness, offers camping accommodation in distinctive pods. All of the cosy pods have their own private entrance, heating and mountain view. There is a shared bathroom. Windows and doors are double glazed. Guests need to bring their own camping equipment but have the option for the campsite to provide mattresses, sleep packs and cooking packs. There is Wi-Fi, free parking, a garden and barbecue facilities on-site. Shuttle transfers can be arranged within a 30-mile radius. There is a small shop and café in Abriachan. There is a wider choice of places to eat and drink, including some offering traditional Scottish food, along Loch Ness. Guests hunting the famous ‘Nessie’ will find Loch Ness only a five-minute drive from Camping Pod Heaven. Inverness Castle is a 25-minute drive away. Urquhart Castle is 11 miles away and Culloden Battlefield is 18 miles.
Guests enjoy their camping experience in the pods. They find them to be very clean and tidy, cosy and secure. Although basic, the pods have power sockets, a light, and a heater. It certainly helps make for a less fraught camping trip as the impact of any potential bad weather is put to one side.
The campsite is set in picturesque and peaceful surroundings. You will find that you really can switch off from the outside world and relax. Guests like being able to go for walks in the lovely woodland setting and say there is plenty of wildlife to see.
The campsite is only a short distance from places to visit including Loch Ness, which is only a short drive away, and Urquhart Castle. Guests find it to be a good location to use as a base for exploring all around the area.
It cannot be avoided that there are lots of midges throughout the Highlands of Scotland and guests do find that they suffer from being bitten. Guests would appreciate it if the windows could have an insect screen fitted, mainly so they could keep midges out if they wanted to leave windows open during the night.
Guests do appreciate that facilities will be limited as they are camping, but would have appreciated a few little extra. While the campsite has a barbecue, there is no charcoal or any wood for the fire pit. Also, there could be a mirror inside the pods, suggest some guests.
Shower facilities are limited at the campsite and some guests felt that there were not enough for all the campers present.
