Beautiful location
Since the hotel is situated only two blocks from Lake Tahoe, guests loved the picturesque views of the lake and the Sierra Mountains in a very peaceful setting. Yet they found that restaurants and shopping were within walking distance and that the casinos were an easy drive across state lines.

The hotel's location makes it ideal for fishing, boating, skiing or simply sunbathing at its private beach, but guests can also find ample opportunity to relax onsite. Guests stated that they liked to unwind in the seasonal heated pool, the hot tub and some by playing a great game of pool.

Guests liked the renovated rooms, which added a feeling of being in a cabin while still getting all the necessary amenities of modern life such as a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning and even a fireplace in the suites.

Downside of pet-friendly accommodations
Several guests noted that the rooms had a damp odor, which resembled the scent of a wet dog. Some also noticed stained and torn carpets, which given that the property is pet friendly, could be anticipated. However, guests reported that they did not anticipate the evidence of previous guests' stays to be so obvious and that some improvements and additional housekeeping services could have made quite a difference.

While some rooms feature updated decorations and amenities, many guests found themselves in units that were older and contained well-used furniture. They were surprised to find tube TVs, out-of-fashion bedspreads, frayed furniture, peeling paint and chipped vanities.

Several guests noted that the rooms are not adequately soundproofed, as they could overhear their neighbors' conversations as well as movement within other rooms and the hallways.
